Short House, Chesil Beach

We feel so blessed to have found such a wonderfully magical place as this. The location and grounds are truely stunning. At one with nature and with a view looking out over Chesil Beach across the whole of Lyme Bay. Superbly equipped inside and out. You couldn't want for more. Watching the sunset from a lounger on the patio is one of those memories of a lifetime. Within easy walking distance from the properties adjoining private field is Abbotsbury where you can enjoy the sub tropical gardens, the swannery and good food at The Swan as well as the picturesque village itself. So thank you Andrew for your hospitality and providing such a wonderful place to stay.

One week holiday at Short House

Short House is Tardis-like; small at first sight but unexpectedly capacious inside. Strikingly furnished with all mod cons, it's a great base for exploring the area, or just to chill. Stand outside under the Milky Way, listening to the breathing of the slumbering breakers, and the world is at peace. From the aged bell tower, blown there from Wales in a tempest one imagines, to the sensory secrets of the adjoining garden, there is a dream-like quality. This is a memorable and rewarding place to visit, and owner Andrew is a relaxed and erudite host.

A Rather Magical Place

We have just returned from a wonderful week's holiday at Short House.
Andrew is a fantastic host - both he and Dan were so welcoming, helpful, and approachable. Our 3 rescue dogs who all have different 'quirks' were very relaxed at the cottage (as we were!), and loved all the walks around the cottage grounds and beyond.
Short House and its surroundings are even better than the photos present!
The cottage is very clean, well-proportioned, and very well-equipped on all levels. The weather was warm during our stay, and there were plenty of options to keep us and our dogs cool, with the skylights being particularly effective.
The location of Short House is absolutely beautiful - it is peaceful, with lovely meadows and a short walk to Chesil Beach. In addition to Andrew's horses, there was an abundance of wildlife where we saw deer, an owl, and plentiful butterflies.
West Bexington is also a short (10 or 15 minute) walk from the cottage, where we can recommend The Club House to eat and drink (great cocktails!). The Subtropical Gardens, and The Swannery, are a must to visit in nearby Abbotsbury.
If it were possible to rate Short House more than 5 stars, we would do so, and we have already booked our holiday at the cottage for next year!

The Best holiday!

A beautiful property located within easy walking of Chesil beach. Dog friendly. Wonderful host lives in house next door. Set in immaculate gardens with pond. We will definitely book again if visiting Dorset.

Wonderful stay

We stayed at short house for 4 nights and had a wonderful time.
The weather, location and house was fabulous from start to finish. 
Andrew is a kind and helpful man who takes great care in his guests experience.
I would highly recommend Short house and its beautiful views.
