The Dale

We travelled around France and the UK for 2 months, staying in all sorts of accommodation in all sorts of locations. The Dale, our penultimate spot, was our absolute favourite place to stay and as soon as we left we wanted to go back!
The Dale had everything we could have possibly wanted: great location with lovely walks in every direction, comfy bed, hot shower with great pressure, a well equipped kitchen and generous provisions. We found The Dale clean and tidy, private and full of character and we honestly couldn’t have asked for more. If we ever return to the area we’ll be heading straight for The Dale - in fact, we may even make a special detour just to stay there again. Faultless - a huge thank you to our hosts.

Perfect!

We really enjoyed our 3 nights in this super holiday home. The deck has relaxing chairs and a table to enjoy the lovely views of the hill and to watch the sunset. The bed is really comfortable, the kitchen is fully equipped and all the extra treats that are provided are really welcome like the milk, butter, crumpets, freshly ground coffee. The walks from the doorstep are excellent and also we enjoyed circular scenic drives around the Dales. Thoroughly recommended!

The perfect holiday home

We stayed for four nights at The Dale which we thoroughly enjoyed. The accommodation is beautiful and clean with lots of extra touches. We were lucky enough to have good weather and were able to sit out on the decking overlooking a lovely garden with views beyond. The location is fabulous with some great walks from Buckden. We ate at the recommended pubs which all do good pub food. The hosts are very friendly and made us feel welcome. It was a perfect getaway.

Following our three night stay in June, we have just spent a week in The Dale and loved every minute of it. Richard and Vicky are perfect hosts, and the fact that they live on site means that they are around for chats, advice about walks, etc. They clearly love the area and that shines through in their enthusiasm for all things Yorkshire! At the risk of repeating my previous review, the place is spotless, and full of thoughtful little details: milk, crumpets, butter, jams, freshly ground coffee, fresh flowers, a great guide to the area with walks and recommendations for eating etc- all very much appreciated after the long drive. There is currently no village shop- the nearest is in Kettlewell, 10 mns drive away, but that has a limited selection so we’d recommend bringing some supplies with you. We ate twice at The George in Hubberholme- delicious and very friendly staff- it’s a short walk along the river, with the added bonus of seeing bats and a barn owl out hunting if you go in the evening! So many fantastic walks to choose from- we walked mostly from the house- drove over to Muker one day and did the circular walk to Keld- beautiful.
We can’t recommend this place highly enough- we’ve already booked a week in June 27 which says it all. Book it- I guarantee you won’t be disappointed!

Another wonderful stay in The Dale

What a beautiful place to stay. You couldn't ask for anything more. Vicky and Richard are great hosts and very helpful with information with places to visit. The Dale was absolutely spotless and equipped with everything you need. Would love to return sometime soon.
