La Balie has a very spacious wood floored studio or function room making it also a fantastic venue for yoga retreats, special interest or business groups and intimate wedding receptions. Converted farm buildings have been transformed into characterful stone cottages retaining lots of original features yet providing contemporary luxury light filled open plan living. And La Balie has a fantastic open air heated salt water pool with sun terrace, garden and views. Couldn't be better. All of the cottages are beautifully designed, having well equipped kitchens, dining spaces and cosy lounges with wood burning stoves. Each property has its own private courtyard with furniture for alfresco dinning, whilst there is a separate terrace perfect for everyone to eat together. Extensive lawns provide plenty of space for group games, corporate team building activities and wedding photos. Each bedroom is styled using cool soft furnishings to create calm relaxing spaces for maximum comfort and are en suite. Of the 8 rooms, 6 have walk in showers, 2 with baths with showers. 5 of the rooms are ground floor making access easier for those less mobile. The bedrooms can be configured to suit your party. Air con in first floor rooms, ground floor rooms have stone walls and are cool! It's unlikely guests will want to venture far from this gorgeous countryside location or the pool, but there are pleasant walks from the door including the very special circular stroll through open woodland, St Avit and the rock-hewn tower of Gavaudun. Monflanquin, a pretty bastide settlement, is a short drive away, famous for being in the top 100 most attractive villages. The area is full of interesting towns with historic attractions, craggy castles and bustling markets. Or perhaps visit one of many vineyards or try out kayaking on the Dordogne or Lot. Owners are close by and speak English and French.

This is the third time we’ve been here and it’s always a pleasure. We’ve always been happy with services and the hospitality. Everything is very clean and there is nothing missing for us to be well.

What a fantastic place! We arrived as a large group of friends, and everything on offer surpassed expectations. 3 individual properties with plenty of space situated around a courtyard. All bedrooms en-suite and kitchens big enough for cooking, with a lounge in each property to relax. Outside you could put multiple tables together for a group meal in the evening under the stars. The pool area is fantastic, with views across the fields. Additionally the yoga studio is huge and a great area for functions or other large events inside. Only a short drive of 10 mins to the nearest town.

What a fantastic place!

What a wonderful week my husband and I had at La Balie. We stayed in Le Pigeonnier cottage which was just beautiful. Bedrooms and bathrooms were comfortable and spacious. Everything has been finished to such a high standard both inside the cottages and throughout the grounds. The estate sits in the most peaceful and tranquil area with delightful views from every angle. The pool is fabulous surrounded by flowerbeds and fields. There are numerous beautiful medieval towns and villages to visit and wonderful markets with fresh produce . The country roads lend themselves to peaceful cycling .

What a wonderful week my husband and I had

What an amazing place. The setting is stunning. The hosts are wonderful and so helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. 17 yoga ladies on the most perfect location you could ask for. From the accommodation to the equipment and the cats are the best. The food prepared by Danne was amazing quality with the most beautiful personality. A real treat. Also fab place for anyone looking for a venue for a special occasion.

What an amazing place

I stayed at La Balie as part of a yoga retreat in late September. The setting was perfect: quiet, relaxed and comfortable. The gardens and pool are immaculate. Clean and stylish  accommodation and a wonderful studio for yoga. Our group were lucky to have a wonderful chef, Danne, who created varied and nutritious vegan meals. It was a total joy to stay at this special place. Short excursions to local sites including Monflancon and Villereal were fun and easy as there were no crowds and virtually zero traffic - and it’s less than an hour from the airport at Bergerac. I’ll definitely return!
