If I had to choose a favourite, Lime Cottage might just be it. Although it is our smallest one-bedroom cottage, it feels surprisingly spacious thanks to its beautiful high-pitched ceiling, open-plan layout and clever interior design.
The cottage was professionally designed by Canadian celebrity interior designer Shai DeLuca, who created an eclectic mix of old and new. Original character sits comfortably alongside modern furnishings, colourful details and carefully chosen pieces that give Lime Cottage a style all of its own.
At the heart of the living space is the beautiful cast-iron and stone fireplace, which adds wonderful character and makes the cottage especially cosy in the evenings. There is also a large, wonderfully comfortable sofa that pulls out to provide additional sleeping space for up to two guests.
The separate bedroom has a European king-size bed with a comfortable mattress and soft bedding, creating a cosy retreat at the end of the day. The bathroom has a traditional pedestal sink, toilet and shower.
Despite its compact size, Lime Cottage never feels cramped. The soaring ceiling and open-plan living area give it a light and airy feel, while the furnishings and original features make it warm, relaxed and full of personality.
Guests can also enjoy the shared outdoor spaces around Lemonade Cottages, with plenty of places to sit and relax in the grounds. There is access to the shared hot tub, our Garden Room in the old orchard and the games room, giving you much more space to enjoy beyond the cottage itself.
Lime is ideal for a couple looking for a romantic country escape, a solo traveller wanting somewhere peaceful and comfortable, or a small family or group happy to make use of the sofa bed. It has the charm of an old Irish cottage, the comfort of a modern stay and just enough unexpected design touches to make it feel a little special.
