La Maison Trumeau

We have enjoyed many wine themed holidays in recent years, and this one was the most perfect yet! Our ‘winos’ group stayed at La Maison Trumeau with Mandy and Willo for three nights to sample and learn more about the wine and food from the Saumur area. There aren’t enough superlatives to say how much we enjoyed our stay. Mandy and Willo are tremendous hosts, always engaging, thoughtful, informative and funny. The house is gorgeous – big high ceilings, large rooms, lovely decoration, beautiful secluded courtyard garden, and just a short walk from Saumur centre. The arrangements for our stay were spot on with numerous highlights including a local rose tasting on the roof of the Opera House on our first evening, two first class evening meals in local restaurants, a ‘blind tasting’ of Cabernet Franc wines at La Maison Trumeau alongside a gourmet dinner cooked by Mandy, and tasting to visits to several local, family owned vineyards where the owners were always very welcoming, hospitable and generous with their wines. It was clear that Willo and Mandy and worked really hard to build great relationships with the vineyards and restaurants included in our stay. On top of all of that, Mandy’s breakfasts and lunches were fresh and delicious, and the two chocolate labradors (Pringle & Brouilly) added a lovable and friendly patting opportunity whenever we arrived back in the house!

And there’s more – so many lovely extra special touches that showed Willo and Mandy really cared about their guests; for example, we were moving onto Sancerre for the next part of the holiday so Mandy provided fresh bread, salad and cakes for a picnic for our journey as well as cups, drinks and cutlery!

We hope we have made new friends in Mandy and Willo and would love to visit Saumur again. Highly recommend La Maison Trumeau as the best way to enjoy a Loire based wine holiday – simply a superlative experience.

Many, many thanks

The Perfect Wine Retreat!

We stay as a family group (3 generations) for a long weekend. The house is delightful and decorated very tastefully. The kitchen has all the gadgets to cook properly. The house feels like a family home and we all felt very at ease there, straight away. The garden is lovely and having breakfast at teh long table was one of the highlights of the stay. The house is truly beautiful, very well located and made for an unforgettable stay.

Lovely Stay

My husband and I spent 5 nights at La Maison Trumeau while I attended an Upholstery Retreat. The house is beautifully furnished down to the smallest detail, yet it is warm and welcoming and we felt very comfortable. Mandy and Willo are friendly hosts who took the time to dine with us and get to know us and we them. Mandy's breakfasts and lunches during the workshop were delicious to look at and to taste, and everything was home made. While I was busy upholstering, Willo brought my husband to some wine tastings and provided guidance on other things to see around the Loire area and Saumur. We would love to visit the town of Saumur and Chateau again and would be hard pressed to find a more wonderful place to stay than La Maison Trumeau.

Beautiful House and Welcoming Hosts

I am not one that usually writes reviews - good or bad,-but I really wanted to write one about the wonderful experience I had at La Maison Trumeau and with their owners , Mandy and Willo this summer. I was visiting the area and wanted to spend some time learning more about regional wines and Cremants and was luckily connected to La Maison Trumeau and its owners who, upon learning of my goals and interests for the remainder of my holiday in the Loire valley , created a bespoke stay and wine tour hosted by them at their beautifully decorated and luxurious home/accommodation. La Maison Trumeau is a gorgeous place to stay-whether you are there solo, with a partner or a group - true to the photos in beauty, ambiance and comfort. The bed ( and decor in tous Les chambres) was very comfortable and the breakfast and lunch that Mandy prepared as part of my particular holiday plan was made with local ingredients, regional flavors and served beautifully. For evening meals- their knowledge and connections to local ( often Michelin star) chefs and restaurateurs is very helpful if you are a foodie. As far as my goal to learn more about the local wine and Cremant production- Mandy and Willo’s knowledge and connections with local vintners and wine producers, as well as their own expertise in wine-helped me accomplish my goals for this first experience in the region. I hope to return to both the region and La Maison Trumeau as Saumer is a great location to explore the region. So, whatever type of holiday or event you are looking for, whether it is to have a bespoke wine tasting holiday, a romantic holiday or special occasion at a lovely accommodation - I highly recommend staying here - and having Mandy and Willo be your hosts.

Wonderful

This house was perfect for our two families with adult kids meeting up. Spacious and beautifully decorated, but to be honest what we enjoyed the very most was the garden. We spent all our time in the garden enjoying food and wine from the local vineyards, to the point where we only went out for one meal during our stay. The kitchen was well equipped to cook for a large group. Mandy always answers quickly to any question and it was easy checkin and check out. The house offered everything we hoped for and more. We will have to return to get opportunity to try out the gorgeous dining room also. Thanks for a wonderful visit!

Wonderful house and garden
