Hiking & Hunting on the 1000's of acres of State land 1 mile down the road because it is located near the heart of the Manistee Forest. Steelhead & Salmon Fishing at Tippy Dam (15 miles). ORV trailhead about 5 to 8 miles away. Cross Country Skiing & Snowshoeing Morel Mushroom Hunting is some of the best in the area. Little River Casino (30 miles). Lazy Acorn "The Blue Gill" on Lake Mitchell

My husband and I, along with our chihuahua Quinn, had a nice time at the Blue Gill. Throughout the week, we had several family members visit, which they also loved the place. It's very clean, bright and inviting. I would stay there again, although, I'd like to see what the Yellow Perch looks like. I'm sure it's just as nice! :)

It was the perfect spot to relax after long fun days on the lake. Dock is great if you bring your boat.

Fourth of July

My husband,Mom and I stayed at the blue gill cabin for 9 nights in the middle of June. The fishing was slow, but what we did catch for pan fish were big fish! We loved that we could bring all of our dogs along with us as well. There is a lot of things to do in the area if you are not into fishing or just relaxing by the water.
