Welcome to Spotted Deer Hideaway — formerly known by the same name to many past guests who may remember this beloved retreat. Enjoy elevated privacy, sweeping water views, and true high-bank waterfront overlooking the Peapod Islands, part of the National Wildlife Refuge system. From the deck and living areas, it’s common to spot seals, seabirds, eagles, and even orcas passing through the channel below.
This serene end-of-the-road property sits beside Historic Sea Acres and offers an open layout, a well-appointed kitchen, and a spacious deck perfect for sunrise lounging. With a fenced yard, play areas, and two ensuite bedrooms plus a third full bath, it’s an ideal escape for families, groups, and guests seeking comfort, quiet, and classic Orcas Island scenery. The home is also just minutes from Doe Bay Resort and Moran State Park, two of the island’s most sought-after destinations for events, hiking, lakes, and relaxation.
Experience the comfort and character of a classic island retreat at Spotted Deer Hideaway, where an open-concept layout creates the perfect setting for quality time with family and friends. Gather in the inviting living area, prepare meals together in the well-equipped kitchen, or unwind by the warm glow of the wood-burning fireplace after a day of exploring.
The peaceful water-facing primary suite offers a king bed and a private ensuite with a shower/tub combination.
A second ensuite bedroom in the loft features beautiful elevated views and a compact shower.
The third bedroom is designed with families in mind, providing bunk beds, a closet, kids toys, games and books and easy access to a full bathroom just across the hall.
Outdoor living is a true highlight here. Enjoy morning coffee or evening meals on the expansive deck, where you can take in the fresh salt air, spot wildlife, and savor the quiet privacy of the property. Guests also have access to a private shared beach just a scenic 5–10 minute walk away—ideal for beach-combing, shoreline strolls, or watching boats drift through the strait. A new gas grill and outdoor dining area with table and furniture make it effortless to host memorable meals in the island breeze.
Thoughtfully maintained, exceptionally clean, and stocked with everything you need, this home is perfect for year-round escapes—from sunny summer adventures to cozy winter stays. Fast WiFi, a Smart TV, and comfortable seating make downtime just as enjoyable as your island activities.
Whether you're planning a family getaway, a peaceful work-from-island retreat, or a long weekend of relaxation, Spotted Deer offers a warm, inviting base to experience the best of Orcas Island.
**Availability note: Weekends tend to book quickly, but we offer lower rates on weekdays — perfect if your schedule is flexible and you’re looking for a great value.
**We’re tucked away on a remote island, where things move a little slower—including the WiFi. While you’ll have access to internet, it can occasionally be patchy or inconsistent due to our location. We like to think of it as part of the charm: a gentle nudge to unplug, soak in the views, and fully settle into island time.
**New to ferry travel? Don’t stress — we offer simple, easy-to-follow ferry tips to help make your arrival seamless. Once you’re on island, we’re available 24/7 to help with anything you need.
If your desired minimum nightly stay falls outside the current settings, feel free to reach out to the host directly—exceptions can sometimes be made.
Looking for extra convenience? We offer optional, fee-based concierge services such as pre-arrival grocery stocking, birthday or celebration staging, and other personalized on-island assistance. Just let us know what you need.

**We offer a limited number of kayaks and paddle-boards available to rent during your stay. Equipment can be staged at the home prior to arrival for an additional fee. Reach out with any questions—whether you’re staying with us or not.
Please consider travel insurance for your visit. Orcas Island travel can sometimes be impacted by weather or ferry schedules, and we’re unable to refund for these or other unexpected disruptions. Insurance can help protect your trip if something unexpected comes up.
A quick heads-up about location: this home sits in one of the most peaceful areas of Orcas Island. It’s approximately 45 minutes from the ferry landing and about 30 minutes from town. The drive is beautiful and a big part of why guests enjoy the private, quiet setting. San Juan County Permit #PCUPOOO-17-0028
