Good vibes abound in this Historic Downtown Grass Valley cottage. The Prospector's Cottage was built during the gold rush but has undergone a complete renovation to give it a modern feel while retaining its historic charm. Have a drink and relax on the front porch overlooking the neighborhood. Enjoy the Sierra foothills weather in the spacious outdoor dining and living areas. Walk to the many shops, restaurants, bars, and cafes or gather with friends in the bright & open kitchen/dining room. The house was built in 1880, but has a bright, modern, rustic feel throughout. It is about 1379 sq. ft. with 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. The kitchen and dining room are in one larger space that is great for groups. The kitchen is well appointed for your vacation meal prep needs with new Bosch & LG appliances There are nice outdoor gathering areas for when the weather is nice. One bathroom is newly renovated with a spa like shower and the other retains its historic charm with a clawfoot tub / shower combination. Each bedroom has blackout shades and two of the bedrooms have remote work desk areas. The main bedroom has a standing desk. The WiFi is super fast so you can stay connected to your work while enjoying the Sierra foothills. The living room has a Samsung smart TV and a Roku that you can use to stream any content that you have access to. Guests have private access to the entire property with the exception of the detached garage which is used for storage. The property is set-up for self check-in, and there is a local co-host available if needed. We are a couple of blocks from historic downtown Grass Valley. It is a quiet neighborhood with houses from the late 1800's and early 1900's. Walk to some of the best cafes, bars, restaurants, and shops in the county. The streets are narrow in this neighborhood and not suitable for a large RV. Full-size pickups or vans will fit just fine. We love to park at the property and walk. There are many great places in walking distance. There is parking space for 3 cars in the driveway. The driveway for the house is off of Harper St., and is easier to approach from behind the house. As a result, we suggest driving past the house on Washington St, and then going around the block (see our guidebook). This is a quiet close-knit neighborhood. Please be respectful of our neighbors.

Prospector's Cottage

Thank you so much Don! Your home is gorgeous and you have obviously poured your heart and so much time into the property, to take care of every detail! Your communication was perfect and you made it very easy to check-in/check-out. Your kindness was appreciated and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience from the beginning (4 nights wasn’t enough time!)

I grew up in Grass Valley and wanted to show my husband the historical beauty and walkability of Downtown Grass Valley… and your 1880’s home is centrally located to the most historic parts of downtown and only a block away from where I lived in the 6th grade, so it was the perfect vacation spot!

We were blown away by all the renovations you have done and how the home felt brand new, while being super cozy…. you have thought of every need! And don’t get us started at how pleased we were with the high end appliances in your amazing chefs kitchen!!! We cooked every meal and didn’t want to leave! We will definitely be back again and again!!!

Show him around

I own a local theatre company which produces shows at the historic Nevada Theatre in Nevada City. Having lived here for 42 years (17 years as an innkeeper), I have seen plenty of inns, AirBnB’s, B and B’s and hotels.

This wonderful house is really a winner.

Spacious, clean as a whistle, great location, new and more than ample amenities with a friendly, easily accessible host (Don) make this a quality and affordable rental for out of towners (just a quick walk to the heart of Grass Valley) and easy highway access to next door Nevada City or hometown folks like us. Was my turn to host Christmas and my home in Penn Valley just a little too small for my nearby family (11 for dinner was really easy here)

I would not hesitate to acquire this accommodation again and HIGHLY recommend to anyone searching for a beautiful, affordable get away!!

Holiday Dinner Party
