Welcome to Chickadee Cottage—a peaceful Whidbey Island hideaway designed for slow mornings, starlit soaks, and cozy evenings by the fire. Tucked along a quiet country lane, this handcrafted retreat sleeps up to four guests and features a cedar sauna, cold plunge, outdoor tub, and shower.
Enjoy a fully equipped kitchen for home-cooked meals, an outdoor grill for sunny afternoons, and a firepit perfect for unwinding under the stars. The gardens offer quiet corners for reading or morning coffee, and deer often wander through at dusk.
The sauna and outdoor shower are shared with the neighboring cabin, with clear signs to let you know when they’re in use—so your time stays private and relaxed. Whether you’re here for a romantic weekend, a friends’ retreat, or a family escape, Chickadee Cottage is a warm and welcoming space to rest, recharge, and reconnect with island life.
You’ll have full access to the cottage’s upper floor, deck, gardens, and all outdoor spaces. The lower level is used for storage, so the living area upstairs is entirely yours. Enjoy the firepit, outdoor soaking tub, grill, and shady picnic area whenever you like.
The cedar sauna and outdoor shower are shared with the neighboring cabin, with clear signs posted so everyone can relax in privacy. Feel free to explore the gardens, play a round of cornhole, or just sit back and listen to the chickadees.
We like to give guests plenty of space to unwind, but we’re close by if you need anything. You might see us around the gardens or adding more firewood for guests. Feel free to ask for local tips—or help lighting the sauna! We’re always happy to share our favorite beaches, trails, and island spots, but mostly we’ll let you enjoy the quiet and make the place your own.
Although you may not see neighbors, sound travels please be respectful of the neighborhood's peacefulness.
Nestled between the Cascade and Olympic mountain ranges, and surrounded by the water of the Puget Sound, Whidbey Island is covered with majestic trees and views. The south end of the Island attracts artists and writers. 
The Guesthouse is located in a quiet rural neighborhood off a gravel drive. 
It is a 10 minute drive to Langley and a 10 minute drive to the Clinton/Mukilteo Ferry. The local Maxwelton beach is bike ride away. 
WHIDBEY ISLAND is a national scenic treasure featuring Beautiful Langley, with restaurants, antiques, and great coffee. Historic Ft Casey State Park, Ebey's Landing, Deception Pass Bridge, and other distinctive communities such as the historic waterfront town of Coupeville. A beautiful ferry ride to our west is Port Townsend. Further North are the SAN JUAN ISLANDs, and further still is BC, CANADA!
Having a car is crucial for island living. While there is a convenient and free Public Island Transit service available, the bus stop is about a mile away from the Cabin and operates on a limited schedule. Bikes are a great way to see the island, and our local Maxwelton beach is especially popular among kayakers.

Deer often wander through the garden, and now and then island storms may cause brief power outages—part of the Whidbey charm. We keep lanterns and extra blankets ready so you’ll stay warm and cozy no matter the weather.
