BETULA from Latin betula =birch tree your private retreat in the woods – The very Best of Coast & Country. 
​The Chalet is situated on 5 acres of private land and sleeps 4, children and pets welcome! The property offers a living/dining room with a fantastic panoramic window allowing you to connect and enjoy the various wildlife species such as deer, various birds and pheasants or an occasional fox.
There is a fully fitted kitchen including dishwasher, fridge/freezer and electric hub/oven. You will find a kettle, toaster, microwave and kitchen essentials.
There is also a spacious bathroom with bathtub/shower to help you relax and unwind after a days exploring. On the ground floor is a bedroom with 2 single beds with 2 more single beds located on the upstairs mezzanine floor. Alternatively, the mezzanine beds can be set up as 1 super-king size bed using a mattress bridge and strap, toped with a super-king size protector and sheet. The 2 single duvets remain. 
The default set up of beds is as follows: the mezzanine will be a Super King bed unless you indicate you would prefer Twin beds; bookings of 2 people will be set up as Super King only, if you require the downstairs Twin Room as well please indicate in advance. Thank you for your understanding and collaboration. 
The heating system is electric with individual radiators and can be managed by our guests to ensures a cosy and comfortable stay all year round. The kitchen and bathroom feature underfloor heating. 
Through the patio door you can access the large decking area. There you find a picnic table for alfresco dinning. There is a bench and sunlounges available too. At the back of the property there is a private fire-pit area with benches where you can enjoy the sunset or stars above you, all surrounded by woodland. The fire-pit also functions as a BBQ.
Please note that the chalet does not offer a TV nor a washing machine. However, the free WiFi allows for streaming and there are washing self-service- and launderette facilities in Nairn. There are several EV charging points within a few mile radius e.g. Nairn central Car Park, Logie Steading. Dog owners: the garden is not enclosed.
The chalet provides an excellent base for exploring the Northeast of Scotland, namely the Cairngorm National Park, Speyside, the Highlands and Moray Coast.
The nearest shops and café/restaurants are located in Nairn, approximately 9 miles. The location is rural and private and the chalet is not overlooked. There is no public transport towards the chalet beyond Nairn.
Betula Chalet achieved the Green Tourism Award in Bronze in early 2023 and was awarded 3 stars for self-catering by the VisitScotland Quality Assurance Scheme in June 2023.
Betula Chalet offers the ideal base to explore the spectacular North-East of Scotland. Only a few miles north is Nairn beach, a superb sandy beach with beautiful views across the Moray Firth to the Black Isle. This coastline is home to a resident school of dolphins. There is also a great range of coastal walks in either direction with a nature reserve at ‘Kingsteps’ in the east and a viewpoint to the west.
It is a short drive south to explore the Cairngorms National Park a truly a thrilling land of adventure and discovery and by far the biggest National Park in the UK. It boasts natural gems such as mountains and gorges, forests and rivers, and within the park you will wonder in the delight of ancient highland communities and whisky distilleries.
You are only 20 miles from the historic city of Inverness where the River Ness meets the Moray Firth. The largest city and the cultural capital of the Scottish Highlands. Its Old Town features 19th-century Inverness Cathedral, the mostly 18th-century Old High Church and an indoor Victorian Market selling food, clothing and crafts. Not to forget is the Inverness Castle you can explore, overlooking the city and river. The contemporary Inverness Museum and Art Gallery traces local and Highland history. You get the best of both worlds: coast and country and if you want, city!

Betula Chalet – coast & country in the Highlands

Wonderful place to stay, it’s a beautiful cabin in a peaceful location. You can spend the days walking through woods to the loch or down to the Findhorn river to watch salmon jumping. The hosts recommended a drive to the beach which was excellent for the dogs. We either sat and watched the birds through the huge glass front or the stars from around the outdoor fire pit. There’s everything you need to enjoy a relaxing and peaceful stay

Wonderful place

Beautiful location, great place to go and completely switch off, plenty of places to walk and get out and about and then come back and relax and just take in the views… we also got a highland winter with plenty snow, couldn’t ask for more

Completely switch off

We had a perfect winter getaway at Betula! The chalet had everything we needed and was very cosy and comfy. The area was beautiful, quiet, and secluded, but was only a 15 min drive to Nairn for shops, pubs and the beach. It was a great location for going out on lovely woodland or coastal walks, including some walks starting right at the cabin! In the afternoons and evenings it was the perfect space to relax in and read, and the kitchen was well equipped for cooking when we preferred to stay in. On clear nights you could see so many stars when you stepped outside, it was gorgeous!! Absolutely perfect and we’d love to come stay again.

Perfect Winter Getaway

We loved our stay at Betula Chalet. it was so peaceful with beautiful surroundings. It was immaculately clean and had some of the best guest instructions and things to do pamphlets we have ever seen at a place where we are staying. it really helped us plan some things to do. We would have loved to stay longer - the only regret. We would definitely recommend to family and friends. thank you for your hospitality

Had a wonderful stay in this gorgeous, clean, well-appointed and comfortable chalet. The setting is so peaceful and beautiful. Lovely local walks and such a tranquil place. I stayed in order to work on a novel, and can’t think of anywhere more perfect to write. Anna communicated brilliantly before my stay, and Paul came round to check I was OK and to welcome me. 5 stars - would recommend to anyone who wants a quiet stay in the woods in a lovey home
