 Sutherland Cabin

I genuinely had the most incredible time whilst staying up in Dalchalm, so much so that I didn't want to come home at the end!I'd never been to this part of Scotland before and didn't really know what to expect, but it absolutely blew me away. The local area is just stunning - it's so, so peaceful and you feel very close to nature indeed. The nearby beach is beautiful as well - quiet, easily accessible and great for dogs. There are lots of lovely little towns & villages in the local vicinity to explore, and a bit further afield there are lots of great sights to see - John O Groats, Duncansby Head, Dunnet Point and lots more besides - even Orkney is doable in a day trip if you plan ahead. The property itself is stunning. Set in beautiful surroundings, spotlessly clean, warm, cosy and appointed to a very high standard indeed. The host has thought of pretty much everything and was unfailingly warm, welcoming and helpful in every matter.I can't recommend this place enough :-)

We had the most wonderful stay at this beautiful cabin by the sea. It was spacious, comfortable and incredibly homely, with fabulous facilities and everything we could have wished for. The setting is absolutely stunning and made the perfect place to relax and unwind.
The hosts were fantastic—so welcoming, friendly and helpful, making us feel completely at home from the moment we arrived. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay and would absolutely love to return. Highly recommended!

I stayed at NC500 during April 2026 and had an absolutely wonderful visit. The cabin had everything I needed for a comfortable stay and was a fantastic base for exploring some of the very best wildlife sites in the Highlands.

One of the highlights of the trip was seeing the Northern Lights en route, with several excellent nearby locations offering superb aurora viewing opportunities. It was such a memorable experience that on my next visit I plan to make aurora watching a major focus of the trip.

The birding in the area was outstanding. I enjoyed close-up views of Black-throated Divers around Lairg, visited the incredible Purple Sandpiper mega colony at Embo, and saw a fantastic variety of waders at Loch Fleet, which is also a regular site for the much sought-after King Eider. There is so much excellent wildlife to see within easy reach of the cabin but equally, if you don't mind driving a bit, many other well-known sites are within a couple of hours drive too, there really are endless possibilities.

The hosts were welcoming, friendly and helpful throughout my stay, and the cabin itself was clean, cosy and well equipped with everything I could have needed. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud. It was a little too comfy infact which made the temptation to sink into it too great some nights, when i should have been out aurora hunting!!!

I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. A wonderful place, wonderful hosts, and an ideal location for exploring the Highlands. Highly recommended!

A Highland Oddyssey

Had the most beautiful stay at the lodge! Just perfect for me and my partner. The cabin came equipt with everything you could possible need and has been done to the highest of standards. Waking up to the views across the golf course was beautiful, and my goodness the beach is incredible! Only a 15 minute walk across the golf course and we were there. Brora was stunning and we can't wait to come back!
