Make some memories at this unique and family-friendly log cabin located "in town". This cabin was re-located to it's current location, in 1987, from Wexford, IA. Built in 1842, by John Downs. Downs' stepdaughter Sadie inherited the cabin and lived there until she was 92. We now call it Aunt Sadie's Cabin in her memory. It now has modern conveniences like running water, electricity, and an indoor bathroom, with a jacuzzi tub/shower. Also, enjoy the real wood fireplace during the colder months.

Historic Sadie's Log Cabin

Sadie's Cabin is so cute and cozy and rustic. We stayed there one night riding our bicycles across the United States. The town of McGregor is charming as well. Highly recommend.

Charming, rustic, cozy, delightful.

I've stayed a few time here and this trip in 2026 I stayed in the cabin! It was worth it! So cozy with the fireplace and rocking chairs right outside!

Let's not forget all the 'things' to do in McGregor and the surrounding area! Parks for hiking, museums and even a casino down the road!! Or just sit in the small park right along the Mighty Miss!

I KNOW I'll be back (soon I hope!)

FANTASTIC!!

This is the second year in a row that me and my wife have spent the weekend for a cozy getaway during the winter. We love the cozy rustic feel of the cabin and enjoy relaxing in front of the fireplace and visiting the shops and restaurants in McGregor.

Cozy Cabin

The cabin has everything you need, just pack some clothes and endulge. Our stay was one of the BEST stays we've had with rentals. Cozy, quaint. CLEAN. They provided bedding, towels, keurig coffee/tea, kitchen utensils for to go food. Don't let the "no kitchen " stop you. There was a mini fridge, microwave, bottled water. Accommodations awesome. Walking distance to everything you need. Loved hiking Yellow River State Park, Pikes Peak. Our dog settled in nicely. The fireplace was going when we arrived what a welcoming sight in a chilly day. We would highly recommend.
