Smugglers Retreat - in the heart of Rottingdean

Stayed here for three nights and we didn’t want to leave! The whole place is so lovely and it’s cozy, comfortable, stylish and the kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to be able to cook as well. The shower was fantastic and hot, the beds were so comfortable I didn’t want to get out of them! The garden is so cute and had it not been raining and so blustery we would have definitely made use of it more. The location is great - it’s just across the Road from the beach which was perfect for us and the dog. We ate lunch in Shane’s cafe and they were so friendly and kind so highly recommend. We went for walks around the village and tried as many of the pubs we could - we only managed two 🤣 (there are a lot of cute ones to try). Lyndsay was a fantastic as a host, very responsive and kind and clearly has put a lot into making this space a home from home which we felt really delighted to be in.I really loved it and highly recommend and will absolutely aim to stay again.

We had a superb stay in Rottingdean. Lyndsay is a fantastic host, very helpful and responsive. The house is well located, beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. Locally we’d really recommend The Plough Inn for dinner and Elate for brunch. Both a very short walk away.

Perfect holiday base. The owner had thought of everything. Communication was perfect. Design was fresh with a feel of escape only being by the sea can bring.

We had a wonderful stay at Smugglers Retreat! The accommodation was exactly as described, clean, comfortable and had everything we needed! Lyndsay the host was super friendly, helpful and incredibly responsive. Making the entire process from check in and check out seamless . The location was beautiful , perfect for exploring the local area specially along the beach’s! We would happily stay here again and highly recommend to anyone visiting the area. We had a wonderful stay at Smugglers Retreat!

Perfect property for 4 adults. The basement bedroom stayed lovely and cool, even in the 38°c heatwave. Frequent buses into Brighton, day and night, meant that we could enjoy the village of Rottingdean and the quieter beach but also be in Brighton centre within 15 minutes on the bus.Lyndsay provided useful information regarding on-street parking in the area and local cafés.The bathroom was lovely with plenty of hot water. The kitchen was well equipped, and the the lounge was bigger than expected. The beds were comfortable and the dusk dot com duvet was divine!Thank you Lyndsay, we will be back.
