Expect a cozy, genuine Portuguese ambiance not a hotel imitation. 📶 WiFi Our fast fibre-optic internet supports video calls and remote work. Please keep this in mind before making a reservation: the solid traditional walls may cause brief signal fluctuations. A simple router reset usually resolves it - instructions provided. ❄️ Air Conditioning Stay comfortable year-round with a new Daikin air conditioning. 🐾 Pet-Friendly We welcome well-behaved pets. Please let us know in advance if you're bringing a furry friend so we can prepare accordingly. 🌿 Relaxed Minimalist Design A naturally styled house where textures, light, and flow encourage presence and peace. 🌊 Location Perks Enjoy the dramatic views of Ponta da Piedade, just a short drive away. The sunrise walks there are unforgettable. THE SPACE: 🛌 Bedroom: King-size bed, luxury Kave Home mattress, dawn-filled topper and cotton linens. Remote-controlled Fakro roof window with blackout blind and rain sensors for peace of mind. Note: As part of the Old Town's coastal setting, you may hear seagulls in the morning. It's part of the charm and character of staying near the sea. 🛁 Bathroom: A round, spa-style bath awaits. The 80L Wi-Fi-controlled boiler fills it: – ¾ full at 40°C (ideal for a warm soak) – ½ full at 75°C (perfect for a hotter, shorter bath) – Full with cold water (great for a refreshing plunge) To ensure the best experience, please avoid using hot water elsewhere for at least three hours beforehand. Reheating to 40°C takes a minimum of 30 minutes. 🧳 Storage space: Open wardrobe downstairs + hanging space upstairs. Minimalist, but thoughtfully arranged. 🍳 Kitchen: Fully equipped with SMEG appliances (bean-to-cup coffee machine, toaster, kettle), Beko dishwasher, Candy induction hob, and large kitchen island. 🚗 Parking: Free on-street parking is available nearby, always with open spots. You may unload right outside. Note: this is a narrow, one-way street in a protected historic zone — patience and smaller vehicles are your friends! ♻️ Bins: Large recycling and waste containers are located just down the street. 🔔 Important to Know Before You Book: This home is designed for guests who appreciate authentic character and slower, mindful travel. To ensure the best experience for you and future guests: ✅ PLEASE NOTE: Noise Monitoring: We respectfully monitor indoor sound levels using a privacy-safe, non-recording Minut device (living area only). This helps us ensure a peaceful environment for you and our lovely neighbours. It doesn’t record, it simply logs sound intensity meeting Airbnb privacy criteria. Residential Setting: The house is in a tranquil, lived-in neighbourhood. If you're looking for nightlife, please explore the Old Town’s bars, but this home is best for guests who enjoy quiet evenings and restful sleep. Spiral Staircase: The unique design may not suit guests with mobility challenges or small children. Luggage is best left downstairs, carry up only what you need. Street Layout: As expected in historic towns, streets are narrow and can be challenging for large vehicles. We recommend walking and taking your time; it's part of the charm. THINGS TO KNOW - Please Read Before Booking! We want you to have a relaxing and smooth stay. Below are a few important details about the house to help you decide if it’s the right fit for you. If in doubt, please message me before 📶 WIFI The house has the fastest available Wi-Fi in the area. However, the thick original walls may cause occasional short signal drops. If streaming or working from the bedroom, place the router on the kitchen island for better coverage. 🅿️ PARKING Free on-street parking is available nearby – either just down the road or slightly further up. You can temporarily stop outside Casa Mel to unload. Please note: it’s a one-way street. 🌦 ROOF WINDOW & BLACKOUT BLIND The remote-operated skylight has rain sensors and will close automatically if it starts raining. ⚠️ SPIRAL STAIRS For your safety, and to protect the stairs, please carry only essentials upstairs and leave your luggage on the ground floor. The house is not suitable for children or people with limited mobility. 🛁 BATH & HOT WATER Our bath is a guest favourite! 🔐 THE SPACE The house is compact (45m²) with an open bathroom and a bedroom on the mezzanine. Storage includes a built-in open wardrobe with 10 hangers and a low shelf, plus a hanging rack, and a hanging ladder in the bedroom. The walls don’t have straight angles and the barn doors don’t close evenly - it's part of the house’s quirky, imperfect charm. 🐦 SIGNS OF LIFE You may hear friendly seagulls in the morning. We’re located in a warm, natural climate where ants can occasionally appear if food is left out. To help keep the space peaceful and pest-free please store any unsealed food in the fridge, wipe down surfaces after meals and avoid leaving crumbs on the floor. We set discreet traps and use eco-friendly repellents to maintain a pristine environment. Your help makes a big difference! 👥 NEIGHBOURHOOD ETIQUETTE Casa Mel is in a quiet residential area. Please be mindful of noise and treat our neighbours like your own. They’re lovely. 🚗 LOCAL STREETS Lagos’ historic centre is full of one-way, narrow streets.
