Casa Joya was perfect for our (almost) week there - we are a family of 5 with children of different ages, our youngest turned 11 whilst we were there! It is in short walking distance of a great coffee shop, a few local eateries and a couple of supermarkets and a slightly longer walk to La Colonia. It is also only a short taxi ride to the beach and everything down there.

The house had plenty of space for our family which was great. The kitchen has everything you could need - it is clear that Julie and her family use it regularly as it is a functional kitchen, not always found in a holiday home.

The house is clean, well designed and laid out and is decorated beautifully. The rooftop pool was a hit with the family and the shared pool a hit with my youngest daughter.

The complex is area and the local area feel safe. We stayed here without a car and it was fine. The ADO stop is round the corner if you want to travel further afield - we used ADO to get to Playa del Carmen and then when we left to go to Merida via Cancun.

Julie was incredibly helpful to us - both before and during our stay. We had a small problem with the platform we'd booked on cancelling our stay but thankfully Julie sorted it all out quickly. She gave many recommendations that were really helpful - it's clear she loves this place and Mexico from her advice and suggestions. Thank you for such a memorable holiday!

Perfect Place & Host!

If you want to be close to the amenities of the resort area but far enough away to skip the crowds, this spot is perfect. It’s tucked inside a private, gated, and very safe community. I stayed in the top-level bedroom and woke up to the most stunning views of the mangrove. Each morning I stepped out onto the rooftop deck with my coffee and watched a family of monkeys play in the trees next door. The outdoor shower off the ensuite felt absolutely magical. The house is a short car or bike ride away from the beach and the town. You could even walk if you want to get your steps in. I can’t recommend Julie’s place enough if you’re looking for an authentic Mexican stay with easy access to all the nearby resort perks.

Authentic Mexico close to the resorts

I’ve stayed at this house multiple times over the years and it has been great each time. Comfortable beds, clean, easy access and safe location, lovely roof top soaking pool, and a beautiful view of the mangrove and the ocean horizon. The house is thoughtfully decorated with local art and has all the things you might need for a short or long stay. I have stayed in many airbnbs in Puerto Morelos and this home has been my best experience. This doesn’t feel like a rental filled with the common cheep furniture and basic houseware but a well cared for and curated home.

Amazing house, safe, beautiful view

We have stayed here multiple times and will come again.

Everything is super clean. It feels brand new. AND it feels really safe as a gated and guarded neighborhood.

Its located perfectly between the beach side and the town side of things.

There is enough distance from the big resort towns to feel like a visit to authentic Mexico, but close enough to enjoy any of the tourist-y activities that are appealing.

After a day at the beach or exploring cenotes, it is great to return to a place that feels like "home" and climb into the comfortable beds.

Fantastic
