Ysgoldy

We had a lovely week at Ysgoldy, we were 4 adults and a small dog and it suited us down to the ground. Family were a few minutes walk away and the delights of LLangrannog a few minutes drive. The house is well appointed and we were lucky to be able to enjoy the views of the sea and sunsets from the terrace. Comfy beds, well equipped kitchen and plenty of parking. If you like coffee there is a Nespresso vertuo machine for which you will need to bring capsules with you as they are not available locally. A lovely place to stay.

Family and friends

Having been told, when taken past Ysgoldy many times in my youth, that my great-grandfather went to school there, how could I resist the opportunity to book it for a family holiday, with my son, my sister, and our aunt?

We had a wonderful week and a luxurious stay in this old school building, a little up the hill from the edge of Llangrannog.

The accommodation is beautiful, practical, and ideal for a restful holiday near the sea. It certainly worked well for us, with plenty of room for four, with three of us sleeping upstairs. My aunt is in her 90s, walking on crutches and recovering from a recent fall. But she also lives in a hilly area, and was glad of the opportunities to walk up (more than down) steep slopes, and felt her walking improved a great deal during the week. She very much appreciated her downstairs bathroom and bedroom. The minibus to the free village car park was great when she had had enough walking.

Plenty of space for us - and would have been comfortable for 7. The cottage is furnished tastefully with items nodding to its history as a schoolhouse and maritime college. Kitchen well stocked with necessary equipment and essentials. Great downstairs shower and upstairs bath. Great for stargazing from one of the two terraces in pitch dark - and view of the sea in daytime. Close to footpaths for exploring inland. Good parking space just below the hairpin bend (fine when taken slowly). I could write screeds more about the attractions of Lllangrannog and the coast, but you can read plenty elsewhere. We loved staying here and had a relaxing time.

Where my great-grandfather went to school

We couldn't have loved our stay at Ysgoldy more. We were thrilled with the house - so charming and stylishly decorated. The beds are extremely comfortable and there are so many nice touches, from all the sheepskins and artworks, to really useful beach equipment. The beach itself is breathtaking and you don't really need to go anywhere else. Our kids age 3 and 7 had an amazing time exploring rock pools, playing in the streams, and body boarding in the sea. We tried out all the restaurants and cafes and they are all brilliant. For adults there is a popup sauna which we loved. The minibus down to the sea is fantastic but our kids managed to do the walk a few times too. All in all we had a incredible holiday and staying at Ysgoldy was the perfect base.

Perfect Welsh holiday cottage

We love this beautifully designed house just outside the popular seaside village of Llangrannog- we lit the fire, it was so cosy! Well equipped - we look forward to coming again in the Summer
