Pilot Cottage East

We had a fantastic relaxing weekend staying in the Pilot Cottage. Hannah met us at the airstrip & dropped us off at the front door.. 2 bottles of wine waiting for us. We hiked to the Ancestor Tree- oldest blue oak recorded- in the morning‚ amazing! The cave tour was fun, the hamburger at Restaurant Alice was special, and the new friends we made.. sweet.

Fun airport to fly intoLunch and the food was greatWe stayed at the pilot cabin which was well built and appointed, and enjoyed the hot tub, bocce, hikes, and the fire pit. Great one night stop, or, weekend spot to take kids and dogs

Fun airport to fly into

This past weekend my wife & I flew there, and it turned out to be one of our favorite getaways in a long time. The winery has its own airstrip, so after landing we were picked up and taken to the pilot cottages near the pool, hot tub, hiking trails, restaurant, and tasting room. The vineyards are beautiful, the food was outstanding, the wine was terrific, and the entire staff made us feel genuinely welcome from the moment we arrived. Because of the airstrip's unique nature, pilots receive special attention. The staff knows who flew in, and other guests are fascinated to watch aircraft arrive and depart. There is something undeniably special about landing in the middle of a vineyard and spending the night surrounded by rolling hills, vines, and open skies. What made the trip especially fun was bringing along a young couple, who had never experienced anything like this before. Watching their excitement, from driving up to the airplane at Van Nuys to landing in the middle of a vineyard, reminded me how easy it is to forget just how extraordinary flying can be. Seeing it through their eyes brought back the wonder I experienced during my first cross-country solo flight while training for my Private Pilot Certificate. It's not an inexpensive destination, but we thought the value was exceptional. Nothing flashy or pretentious, great people, great food, great wine, and an unforgettable setting. My wife doesn't even drink wine and she absolutely loved the experience!Flights like this aren’t just transportation--It's an adventure, and it's even better when shared with others

Amazing weekend flying for our 30th anniversary. Such a lovely stay. We had such a great time we ended up joining the wine club.

Amazing weekend flying for our 30th anniversary

We came to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary and I wanted to move in! One morning I was sitting on the porch and bald eagles kept soaring right past me. Later we took a walk and a coyote got startled in front of us and jumped into the vineyard. On our return from dinner an elk with large antlers stood in the road. Being here is definitely luxurious but I am thankful for the wide open spaces that allow the wild.
