Hale Na’alehu Vacation Home

Good air-conditioning system. There was a lovely breakfast in the morning with a great variety of goods. Great company at the breakfast table too. Good proximity to Green Sands Beach and Southpoint and the volcano. Very hospitable and homely atmosphere in the house.

Hospitable and Homey

A Memorable Stay at Hale Na’alehu Bed and Breakfast
Introduction to Hale Na’alehu
During my visit to Hawaii, I had the pleasure of staying at the Hale Na’alehu Bed and Breakfast, which provided me with a unique opportunity to experience this historic residence firsthand. Nestled in the southernmost community of Na’alehu on the Big Island, this charming bed and breakfast boasts access to all the island's attractions, making it an ideal retreat.
A Historical Gem
The Hale Na’alehu was originally built as a grand home for the plantation manager’s family when the area thrived from sugarcane farming. Now renovated into a cozy bed and breakfast, it offers modern amenities while preserving its rich history. Each of the three guest rooms is equipped with comforts like private bathrooms, air conditioning, and large smart televisions, accommodating up to eight guests comfortably.
Memorable Experiences
What truly sets Hale Na’alehu apart is its sense of community. I was lucky enough to participate in the weekly movie night and potluck dinner where locals and guests come together to enjoy each other’s company, share delicious food, and select movies to watch on a professional-grade projection system. This welcoming atmosphere, combined with the owner’s attention to detail—from monitoring volcanic activity to providing sightseeing tips—made my stay unforgettable. The ultimate highlight was viewing a spectacular volcanic eruption, an opportunity facilitated by the owner, which left a lasting impression on me.
The blend of Hale Na’alehu's historical significance and modern comfort offers guests an experience that is uniquely Hawaiian. I left with a heart full of memories and a desire to return. Until my next visit, I encourage anyone seeking authentic island experiences to consider a stay at this remarkable bed and breakfast.
