This stunning private 9 acre estate offers two fully independent houses and a saltwater pool with gardens, terraces, olive groves, fruit trees and a park for children. The views throughout are breathtaking and frame two Renaissance castles and wine estates.
You arrive at a gated, cypress lined drive along which sits the Guesthouse and ends at the 11th century Watchtower in front of the Main House.
The main house is tastefully furnished with 17th century Italian walnut furniture and original oil paintings from the owner's family estate. The house offers three terraces for indoor/outdoor living. You will enjoy reading or conversing in the sunlit living room and drinks or dinner in the adjacent dining room with its 17 century bar. Inevitably, most guests congregate in the spacious farmhouse kitchen with its open fireplace, oak dining table for 12 and well appointed cooking area. From the kitchen, dinners--whether home cooked or prepared by a chef--spill out onto the back terrace where a stone dining table seats 12 under a giant oak that shades the setting sun. A stone grill is a delight for those who want to sample the famous local butchers fare, sourced from their own farms.
From the spacious foyer, stairs lead to the upstairs living room which is a smaller private space for reading, yoga, deskwork (with printer) or watching movies. It is also the center of the second floor with doors opening onto the private bedroom wing, the 11th century tower suite and the stone path leading to the pool. In the bedroom wing, the four double bedrooms are arranged into two private areas--each area with two nearby bedrooms and a shared large bathroom. The artisanal tower bathroom is a poetic spot to shower off after a dip in the pool and is easily accessible to three of the bedrooms. All bedrooms have separate AC/heating units and screens.
The Guesthouse was born from a "Fienile" for drying wild fennel and is an architectural gem with soaring views from the 15' thermal window. It offers both privacy as well as vicinity to the main house and pool. The first floor offers a living room, dining room, working fireplace, entertainment center and kitchen. Upstairs is the master bedroom with en suite bathroom and walk in closet.
Stone paths lead to the saltwater pool enclosed by jasmine, roses, santolina, bay leaves and lavender. A pergola and umbrellas offer shade. The pool has a quick-close cover and locking gate for safety.
From the time of your booking until your departure, your stay will be supported by your concierge, Federica, who will help you to organize your trip and can set up in-house cooking classes/chef, catering for dinner parties, extra cleaning services and private tours etc. As a convenient add-on, she can stock the kitchen with an agreed shopping list so that you arrive with all on hand.
Children will enjoy the "Prato"--a long lawn perfect for croquet, bocce, badmitton or other ball games. Fruit trees line the edges of the Prato with figs, grapes and fresh lemons on the drive above. In addition to outdoor games, board games, books and yoga mats are available to guests.
The lively market town of Greve is about 2 miles south and Florence about 15 miles north, with convenient parking at Porta Romana for excursions to Florence. The area offers wonderful biking and hiking with e-bikes available in Greve to manage the hills. Tours of wine estates abound with the historic Castello di Vicchiomaggio, Castello di Verrazzano and Villa Calcinaia within a mile or so. Hilltowns a short drive away include Montefioralle, Panzano, Siena, Radda, Castellina in Chianti. Also recommended for tours and lunch are two medieval Abbys--la Badia di Passignano and Badia di Coltibuono,
The houses were both renovated with the addition of the pool, AC units, new beds and landscaped gardens from 2022 to 2024. Where ever possible, the owners used local artisans for the ironwork, linens and carpentry.

Una location fantastica in mezzo al Chianti. Vicino a Greve paesino incantevole

Una favola

We know Jennifer and Cesare, and appreciate their good taste in everything they do. We were anticipating their home in Greve in Chianti to be wonderful with pleasant surroundings, but what we experienced was beyond expectations and was heavenly. There, an old country house has been turned into a magnificent residence, each room appointed with antique furniture of exquisite style and living accommodations most comfortable. The spacious kitchen is classically Italian, inviting, and asking to create whatever delicious dish possible, given one's culinary talents. The terrace, trellised by flowers and other greenery, commands a view of a tranquil Toscana Valley with two castles or borgos in the not too distant hills. The "pensatoio" Guest House stands separately from the main house, and has a similar view, but with an enormous picture window that will capture your gaze instantly. Below is a small kitchen with adjoining living room, while above is a loft bedroom that opens into the space below and beyond. "Exquisite" is the word that comes once again to mind. Behind the guest house is an olive tree orchard which invites even the most stressed to experience tranquil pondering as they walk among the boughs to the pool situated behind the main home. We were there in April and the pool was not yet ready to enjoy. I can only imagine lying in the lounge chair under a small pavilion next to the pool, looking at the surrounding countryside, and enjoying a swim. The town of Greve itself is a 10 minute car ride from Chianticasa. I went there each day at 6 am to get freshly baked bread for the family, which consisted of three of my wife's siblings and their spouses. I found at that hour the best cappuccino was at the COOP bar. My hair was cut by Tomaso, a barber of "qualitá, and ate with our family at fabulous restaurants in Greve where all you needed to say was "Cesare and Jennifer " to bring a friendly smile to the owners' faces. A tour of Fabbri's pasta factory in Strada, followed by lunch at Padellina where the 86 year old owner recited the entire 5th Canto of Dante at our table. And of course, Chianticasa gives you access to some of the most interesting and lovely places to visit in the Chianti region: Montefioralle,, Lamole, Badia, and so much more. What can we say: it was a trip we shall never forget. Thank you, Thank you, thank you.

Pure Heaven

As a family of 8 adults and 3 small children, we recently spent a week in this beautiful villa. The moment we drove down the tree-lined driveway we were enthralled with the surrounding beauty of the villa and the surrounding vineyard and nearby castles. The spaciousness, decor and art inside the villa and guesthouse truly made this stay remarkable. We were able to schedule a cooking class for the entire family through Federica, the in-country host, as well as having her address many of our other questions and needs throughout the week. She's amazing! The villa was appointed with all we needed for a comfortable stay, including cookware, linens and bedding. The beautiful pool provided us with many hours of fun and relaxation.

In addition, the villa was within driving distance of many small villages, towns and vineyards. Greve, the nearest town offered unique shops, restaurants and other amenities.

Jennifer (owner) and Federica (host) were so available and thorough with communication. If we are able, we will definitely schedule a future visit!

Breath-taking

We are a family of nine ranging in ages from 7 to 87! It was a rare treat to stay in such beautiful surroundings in your exquisite home. The house is wonderfully appointed with personal touches everywhere, obviously a labor of love. A perfect location to explore the treasures of Tuscany from Siena to Florence.
