Spend a night in a Hole in the Ground in the middle of the Waikato.  It comes with a nice breakfast with homemade bread and bacon and eggs (own chickens) and homemade jams. There's an outdoor area made totally of pallet wood where you have the opportunity to cook, have a BBQ and have a dining area.
Only suited for one or 2 persons (pets only at prior approval, service animals are ok).
We (since 1984) are Rivendel Gardens, growing tomatoes, capsicum, beans, courgettes etc. for the local farmers' markets.
I started with with the accommodation about 12 years ago as a playground for my grandchildren.
If you need help, just come to the main house and I'm happy to help with whatever you need.
We are in a very rural environment, very quiet. 7 Km out of Cambridge.
Plenty of parking.

This place is amazing! Well worth the stay if you want to relax and unwind! very private. The hosts are very welcoming with a delicious breakfast included, was a lovely touch.

My partner and I had such a wonderful stay here celebrating our anniversary. The little house is so carefully crafted and the details are absolutely wonderful. Such a cosy vibe, and we really felt like hobbits in a hobbit hole! Host Johan was very helpful, and the cat is so sweet. Beautiful area, very peaceful place to stay. The fresh produce provided to cook breakfast with, and the wood fire was a lovely touch.

This is no doubt the best place we've ever stayed. We aren't specifically LOTR fans but just thought it looked cool so booked in one night at the Hobbit Hole when we were in Hamilton for a function. We were very grateful that Johan allowed us an earlier check in so that we could enjoy the space before we had to leave for our event. We were blown away by the greeting and hospitality from Johan, he really is a great soul. We thought the HH was awesome when we first settled in, but after spending some time with Johan in his workshop and learning that he HAND CRAFTS almost everything inside, we went back with a whole new appreciation. It is quaint, cosy, comfortable and thoughtful and we enjoyed every minute of our stay. Complete with a gorgeous sunset, and free range bacon and egg breakfast, we had the best stay ever and left with a whole new appreciation for the simplicity and small details of life. Thank you Johan, we will be back

One of our favourite Airbnb's we have stayed in! Thank you for a wonderful stay, the Hobbit hole is cosy and inviting, with all the amenities you need at the same time. We loved living out our Shire Hobbit life for a weekend. 100% recommend this stay.
