Karu ō te Kiwi

Canada was absolutely lovely and so helpful, particularly with her recommendations of local places to explore. Her hospitality is genuinely five-star, and it’s clear how much thought and care has gone into every detail. From the delicious welcome platter of food and wine waiting for us on arrival, we felt thoroughly spoilt. We also opted for the fully catered package, which was fantastic! The food was exceptional, with a wonderful selection of high-quality, locally sourced produce and homemade treats, including the most delicious honey and salsa verde. We were also lucky enough to purchase some of Canada’s beautiful pottery, so now we’re reminded of our special stay every morning as we enjoy our coffee. The accommodation itself is beautifully appointed, incredibly private, and has stunning views over Farewell Spit. It’s also perfectly located for exploring this gorgeous part of New Zealand. We couldn’t have asked for a more memorable stay. Highly recommend, and we’ll definitely be back!

Our stay at Karu ō te Kiwi was everything I had hoped for

What a fabulous stay. A beautiful retreat near farewell spit. The location and property is perfect. I loved the isolation, but isolated with luxury touches. Perfect WiFi. Fireplaces already set and ready when you arrive, all you have to do is light a match. Welcome basket with local goods. Bathroom products from New Zealand (already made a purchase to get them at my home). Just a perfect stay. The treehouse retreat was fun as well. Friendly hosts that are helpful. My only regret is not staying an extra night (we stayed two nights). Definitely recommend to anyone without reservation. A lovely piece of luxury at the edge of New Zealand. Thank you Ivan and Canada for letting us share a piece of your paradise.

Luxury at the edge of the world

We regret not staying longer and want to come back again someday.

Everything about this place is wonderful and magical.

Deep, deep quietness, that was so relaxing and restorative.
Such a treat to stay in a space where everything is natural and comfortable.
No harsh chemical cleaners, or artificial fibres on the bed.
A focus on realness.
Loved it!!

A magical spot!

We stayed two nights at Karu o te Kiwi and loved it! Both the main house and the tree house are fantastic - lovely open spaces, very comfortable and great views. Easy base to explore Golden Bay with a short drive from Farewell Spit and Wharariki beach. Thank you Ivan and Canada for sharing your piece of paradise. We hope to return.
