Stay at Mapperton Estate and enjoy historic Mapperton House, award‑winning formal gardens, miles of walking trails and abundant wildlife, set within a pioneering rewilding project restoring natural landscapes — all just minutes from the Jurassic Coast.
Garden Cottage offers a beautiful historical retreat, located 100m south of Mapperton House, home to the Earl and Countess of Sandwich.
Please note: The garden ends with a high wall that drops significantly to Mapperton Gardens below. For safety reasons, the garden is not suitable for unsupervised children.

Countryside Escape on Historic Estate

Mapperton House and Gardens are set in the stunningly beautiful, lush green rolling hills of West Dorset, a must destination for a day out or a stay over as we've done twice. Firstly, at Keeper's Cottage, and very recently at Garden Cottage with its magnificent views. The former estate manager's dwelling has been tastefully renovated to the highest standards and offers much more than just a holiday home. Close by is the magnificent Manor House, and Coach House Cafe with its excellent coffee, delicious cakes and sandwiches, a great place to end or indeed start the well recommended five-mile hike around this glorious estate. Five stars in our book!
