Tiny House in a Converted Shipping Container – Sleep Inside a Piece of World History
Before this container became your Tiny House, it spent years crossing the world's oceans – loaded with cargo, through storms and across continents. Today it stands quietly in a peaceful spot near the center of Schärding, transformed into a stylish retreat with smart home, air conditioning, its own kitchen, bathroom and garden. A night here is more than a short getaway – you sleep inside real steel that once traveled the world.
A Second Journey
Every container has a story before it reaches us. This one – hull number RFBU 907363‑2, a 40-foot high cube sea container from the fleet of Bimicon Container Service GmbH in Hamburg – spent many years at sea, carrying cargo between ports and continents, and has seen more of the world than most of us do in an entire lifetime. Its steel walls, which withstood salt water, wind and weather for years, still carry that history within them.
In 2024, we gave it a second journey: instead of cargo, it now carries memories. What was once a pure workhorse of the global economy has become a place to arrive – upcycling in the truest sense, nothing new taken from the earth, just something that already existed, reimagined with respect for where it came from.
Sleeping Where Cargo Once Lay
There's a particular feeling to spending the night inside a shipping container: the massive steel walls that once withstood stacks of containers on the open sea now wrap around you like a calm, sheltering shell. Inside, though, there's no cold metal waiting for you – just a warmly furnished, stylish home away from home, with all the comfort you need for a few relaxing days. Outside, a small garden to arrive in; inside, the quiet of a place that has already seen so much and is now entirely yours.
Whether it's a short getaway or a few focused days of work away from everyday life – the Auszeitbox is your quiet retreat with a story you won't find anywhere else. Close enough to the center of Schärding to reach everything, far enough away to truly arrive.
Book now and be part of your container's second journey.
