Located due south of Cahal Pech Archeological Reserve and just minutes from downtown, Lost Compass Cabanas is ideally situated for those travelers torn between being amidst the culture and cuisine of the city or the nature and tranquility of the surrounding jungle. Constructed entirely of Belizean hardwoods, the Tapir Cabana features a screened-in porch, Queen-size bed, full kitchen, and full bathroom - plus free Wifi and A/C! All furnishings and shelving have been locally designed and made specifically for the cabana!
The property includes: the cabana area, which is fenced in and landscaped with a variety of flowering plants; the pool area, which features the inground pool, patio area, and lounge chairs (rafts provided); a bird-watching area, which is down a short trail and faces the reserve (binoculars and bird identification pamphlet provided); and, a smoking/assembly area, which is under a Gumbo Limbo tree surrounded by benches.
We live next door so we'd be happy to sit down with you (maybe over a cold Belikin?) to help out with recommendations or answer any questions you may have - or we can give you space to explore on your own (and drink cold Belikin by ourselves). It's totally up to you!

Tapir at Lost Compass Cabanas

My husband and I stayed in the Tapir cabin for three nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We loved that the cabin was close to town (with an excellent restaurant minutes away) and all the sights we were in the area to see but that we were surrounded by nature. Adam and Rebecca were great hosts and very responsive to my (many) questions as we were planning our trip. We would definitely stay again if we are in the area.

Great spot!

My girlfriend and I were here for nearly a week and it was fantastic. The place was clean, WiFi was fast, and truly every detail was perfect. We stayed without a car and it was no issue. Adam even gave us a ride a couple of times and set up a cab to pick us up another. Try the ceviche place down the road, it was really good and had a nice view.

If and when we come back to San Ignacio we will absolutely be staying here again. Adam and Rebecca are excellent hosts and I highly recommend staying here.

Awesome Stay

We had a wonderful stay in the Tapir Cabana for 4 days. Got to travel around and sightsee, coming back to refresh in the pool every afternoon, then relaxing on the screened porch. Heaven! And the bed was very comfortable.

Sister trip

We rented both of the cabins for 4 nights. They are spotlessly clean with comfortable beds, great showers and really well equipped kitchens. We rented a car so we could independently visit various places such as Mountain Pine ridge and Mayan ruins etc, all are easily driveable from here. The local restaurant Authentic Flavours is superb and walkable with ease. Lounging in the pool at the end of day watching birds and butterflies was heavenly. Adam and Rebecca were so friendly and helpful, thanks for a fabulous stay 😊

Fabulous stay

Absolutely phenomenal stay! I cannot even begin to say how amazing Lost Compass was to me. Adam and Rebecca take exceptional care of their cabanas, their pool and their grounds all with the guest in mind so that you can have a relaxing, comfortable stay. The cabanas are stocked perfectly, clean, good AC units, screened in porch for morning coffee or evening beverages, hammock to read and relax, pool for afternoon cool offs (that is always clean!) They treat you like family and are willing to do almost anything to help make your experience as amazing as possible. I went down the street to a cute little home/restaurant called Authentic Flavors multiple times and had the most delicious local foods that I could bring back to the cabana. Rebecca even did my laundry for me since I was there for so long! (for a fee of course but that was so incredibly helpful and wonderful) These two humans are running a business in this magical country and they are doing an exquisite job. Meeting them and staying at their place was the absolute perfect place for me. I will be visiting Belize again, to see Adam and Rebecca :)
