Dreamily tucked between Bowness and Windermere, Woodland View is the kind of place where families of all generations can truly unwind together. With multiple spaces to gather, generous bedrooms, and the option to create a fully self-contained two-bedroom annex. Children will adore the magical garden, from the dedicated play area to the enchanting woodland that’s perfect for hide-and-seek and big outdoor adventures. Could this be the perfect base for all of your Lake District Adventures?
WOODLAND REFUGE
Let the rush of everyday life melt away as you turn onto the quiet road leading to Woodland View. Perfectly hidden yet moments from the Ambleside Road, this discreet retreat is wrapped in hedging and tall conifers that part only to reveal sweeping views across to the Langdales.
As the electric gates close behind you, the beauty of Woodland View unfolds. Cross the charming brook beneath a graceful willow as you arrive at a private driveway with generous parking for six cars. A secure garage offers the ideal spot to store paddleboards, bikes, kayaks, and all your outdoor adventure essentials.
NEXT STOP: TRANQUILLITY
Inside, the connection with nature continues. Light pours into the entrance hall, inviting you to sink onto the built-in seating, peel off muddy boots, and empty pockets filled with pinecones collected from the garden. A convenient cloakroom is tucked away for sandy toes and post-play clean-ups.
Step into the kitchen — a bright, welcoming space perfect for that first cup of tea after a morning walk.
WINE, DINE & UNWIND
The heart of the home, the kitchen is thoughtfully equipped for easy holiday living and indulgent feasts alike. Morning coffee is elevated with a Nespresso machine and milk frother, while alfresco evenings are made effortless with and all the essentials for outdoor dining. For the little ones, a waffle maker and pancake press bring breakfast-time joy.
Plan the day’s adventures at the breakfast bar, then gather each evening around the large dining table as the sun dips behind the garden.
As night begins to fall, curl into the soft armchair by the wood-burning stove and savour a hot chocolate. Slip through the French doors to the terrace for sundowners among the trees.
On the opposite side of the hall, the spacious lounge is a serene retreat, with room for all of the group to enjoy a game, puzzle, or simply relax by the second wood-burning stove. With plush seating and French doors opening to the garden, it’s the perfect spot for movie nights, pre-dinner drinks, or simply unwinding while others gather around the outdoor pizza oven.
REST & REFRESH
Upstairs, four beautifully curated bedrooms provide calm, sunlit spaces for restful nights. Two king-size rooms, a twin, and a charming bunk room offer elegant comfort, enhanced by quality furnishings from the Cotswold Company and luxurious Feather & Springs mattresses.
The family bathroom invites indulgence with its freestanding plinth-mounted bath and spacious walk-in shower — a blissful retreat after fell walks and woodland wanderings.
A super-king bedroom with fitted wardrobes offers uninterrupted views over the garden, while the primary bedroom suite provides the ultimate sanctuary. Enjoy morning coffee on your private balcony before stepping into the contemporary en suite with its generous walk-in shower.
Children will adore the bunk room, perched above the garden with views framed by the landing’s dramatic wall of windows.
A SENSE OF SEPARATION
After days exploring Windermere’s boutiques or sailing on the lake, Woodland View offers the flexibility families crave. Gather in the relaxed family lounge for a game of pool beside the log burner, while children play in the toy corner, tackle a jigsaw, or curl up in the reading teepee.
For those seeking a little independence, the annexe offers complete privacy with its own entrance, kitchenette, shower room, and two welcoming bedrooms upstairs. Perfect for grandparents, teens, or friends, this space includes a generous family suite sleeping four, with en-suite bath and shower, plus another bedroom, with a single trundle bed ideal for young guests. With everything from a microwave to a kettle, it’s easy to prepare a quiet breakfast or warm a baby bottle before joining the main house.
OUT OF THE WOODS
While the home is exceptional, it’s the garden that truly captivates. Encircling the property, the grounds offer a private world of woodland, wildlife, and sunlight.
Behind Woodlands View, towering larch trees sway as deer and rabbits wander at dusk. Owls call from the canopy at night, and birds of prey circle above — a reminder of the natural magic that surrounds you.
Families will relish the vast lawn, woodland play area, football goal, climbing frame, and timeless rope swing hanging from an ancient tree. Wander the pathways through the rockeries bursting with colour in spring, or unwind in suntrap patios that glow until late afternoon.
As evening arrives, gather beneath festoon lights on the dining terrace, fire up the pizza oven, and watch the sky fade to lavender behind the fells.
NEAR & FAR
From Woodland View, a 25-minute stroll leads to Miller Ground — perfect for picnics, paddling, playground fun, and launching kayaks or paddleboards. Windermere village is an easy uphill walk or a short drive, offering artisan shops and must-visit cafés like Homeground.
For a livelier scene, head to Bowness for lakeside dining, pitch-and-putt, and family attractions including The World of Beatrix Potter.
Adventure lovers can walk straight from the door to Orrest Head for one of the most iconic viewpoints in the Lakes, or wander the scenic shoreline path to Brockhole for treetop trails, lakeside cafés, and family fun.
Whether your days are spent lounging by the lake or scaling fell tops, everything is within effortless reach — before returning to Woodland View for pizza, wine, and soft festoon light as the fells fade into evening.
