A Spacious Modernist Retreat with Mountain Views
Spend a relaxing weekend, or stay longer, in this, adults only, beautifully appointed 600 square foot studio suite, where dramatic architecture, sophisticated design, and Palm Springs indoor-outdoor living come together.
With its 13-foot sloped ceiling, clerestory window, expansive sliding glass doors, and private south-facing patio, the studio has an unusually generous sense of volume and an effortless connection to the surrounding desert landscape.
A beautiful new porcelain tile floor provides a clean, contemporary foundation for the space.
Architecture That Gives You Room to Breathe
The studio’s 13-foot-high sloped ceiling creates a dramatic vertical dimension rarely found in a studio apartment. A clerestory window brings additional natural light into the living area while emphasizing the architecture’s strong horizontal and vertical lines.
The result is an interior that feels open, airy, and distinctly Palm Springs.
A Kitchen for Serious Cooking
The newly renovated European-style kitchen is designed for guests who enjoy cooking and entertaining. A gourmet kitchen, microwave oven, full cooking amenities, and built-in ice maker make it easy to settle in and stay awhile.
A gas grill on the private patio extends the kitchen outdoors.
A Bedroom Designed for Deep Sleep
The bedroom features a king-size Case Study bed topped with a luxurious down-on-top feather bed.
All-cotton linens, a European duvet, and a choice of soft and firm king-size pillows allow you to create your ideal sleeping environment.
Blackout drapes provide complete privacy and ensure a restful night’s sleep.
Twelve Feet of Glass. Mountains Beyond.
The bedroom opens through dramatic 12-foot sliding glass doors onto a 300-square-foot private south-facing patio.
This is the real luxury of the apartment: a generous private outdoor living room with spectacular south-facing mountain views.
Leave the hustle and bustle behind and settle into the quiet of the desert. The patio includes a vintage café table, generous lounge seating, and two comfortable chaise lounges.
As evening arrives, gather on the patio, grill dinner, listen to relaxing music, and watch the mountains change with the setting sun.
Your Own Private Outdoor Living Room
The expansive patio is designed to be enjoyed throughout the day, from morning coffee and breakfast to afternoon relaxation and evening cocktails.
With its mountain views, chaise lounges, dining area, and gas grill, it functions as an extension of the apartment rather than simply an outdoor space.

#5 Studio Suite (PSP ID#4045) 2-night minimum

We loved how everything at Desert Star is super easy and well thought out from the moment of getting the text of ‘self check-in entry’ with door keycodes. Having time constraints to unload the vehicle and get to our event this was greatly appreciated. Though our stay was brief I’m glad we got to meet Richard. Warm, genuine, smiley and very welcoming is how I’d describe meeting him. As a lover of architecture It brings be such delight when I meet owners of establishments that really care for their properties/spaces. You definitely feel it here, it’s happy! Our studio #5 is a well thought out adorable clean fresh studio with a well stocked kitchen to cook in. Location is fabulous. Also as a very private couple I’d also like to say this was perfect for our taste, having a spacious back patio lounge with bbq was bonus! We’ll certainly stay here again when the occasion arises. Thank you for creating a wonderful place to stay.

The Desert Star #5

If you want a quiet, private, place to stay without the hassle of a big hotel and other guests, the Desert Star is awesome. It's centrally located only a few minutes to downtown by car. Also the place was an adorable mid-century masterpiece with many cool touches. The bed was very comfortable, the air conditioning worked great and having a little kitchen really helps if you don't want to wait forever to have breakfast on a busy weekend. Over all, a terrific choice. We had a great time.

Very private, quiet and mellow oasis on a quiet street. Exactly what we were looking for. The pool setup is fantastic, and the views from it are great. The owners are onsite (a good thing, in my opinion) and are very friendly and accommodating while also giving you your space to do your thing. We already want to go back.
