About This Space Have it both ways with the Tiny Sustainer - a retreat in nature AND a 10 minute drive to historic downtown West Jefferson or quaint Todd. Also a 25 minute drive to downtown Boone. Enjoy the well appointed custom converted shipping container home with three decks, private access to a hot tub, fire table, hammock area, dining nook and comfy outdoor furniture. Cook meals in the Sustainer's small kitchen or outdoor grilling area. Relax and refresh while experiencing the joy of tiny living! The Space The Tiny Sustainer was designed and built with the vision for simple yet comfortable living that supports a deep connection with nature and a smaller footprint on the planet. The meticulously designed 160 square foot Tiny Sustainer makes use of every inch and lacks for nothing. With the small interior footprint, the majority of the space is dedicated to four truly magical outdoor areas. The area directly in front of the Tiny Sustainer boasts a unique fire ball fire pit where you can bring your own firewood to build that idyllic campfire. The main deck is equipped with a dining area, propane fire pit (for those lazy evenings when you still want to enjoy a fire without the work of building one!), propane 3 burner grill, and seating area to relax and enjoy nature in. The second deck, right on top of the Sustainer, brings you even further among the trees, accentuating the winter views of the mountains and the year round tree encapsulated magical nook. Read a good book, take a nap, or enjoy the view of the trees while relaxing on the outdoor patio furniture on the second deck. The third deck, perched on a hill behind the Sustainer, allows you access to a 4 person hot tub with a private comfy 2 person hammock only a few feet away. You can expect to see birds, deer, and other wildlife about while you enjoy the outdoors. The Tiny Sustainer itself was built with all the essentials and packaged into a cozy, comfortable, and retreat-like space. With an emphasis on sustainability, guests can reduce waste by recycling and composting on the property. Tall ceilings, well equipped kitchen, unique high end bathroom, working/dining area, and a comfy sleeping space with cozy sheets are a few of the features. Use the high speed wifi to login to your video streaming accounts and enjoy a movie on the Smart TV while relaxing after a day of exploring. Complimentary coffee and tea, along with luxury shampoos/soaps are just a few of the other amenities provided. Guest Access Guests will have complete private access to the whole Tiny Sustainer and three decks! Check in and check out instructions are provided the day before check in. We, the hosts, are only ten minutes down the street and guests can reach us via Airbnb Messenger or phone anytime during or before their say with any questions. Location Whatever you’re in the mood for, you will find it nearby. Historic downtown Todd is only a 10-minute drive, where you will find live music in the summer, the famous Todd mercantile and Todd General Store, where you will find locals and tourists hanging out. RiverGirl Fishing Company and the New River are also located in downtown Todd and offer fishing, biking, kayaking, and tubing. Just a 27-minute drive from the sustainer is Elk Knob State Park with miles of hiking, biking, jogging, exploring, and a stunning view at the top. Appalachian Ski Mtn, the Blue Ridge Parkway, ziplining, golfing, hunting, and countless hiking trails are within 30 minutes of the property. Grandfather Mountain, many more hiking trails and countless wineries are within an hour's drive. It really is the best of both worlds with city life and nature readily accessible. You can drive to downtown Todd or downtown West Jefferson in 10 minutes or less. Highway NC 194 South is famous as a biking road and it takes approximately 1 hour to bike to Boone and 30 minutes to Jefferson. Other Things to Note: LOCATION: The Sustainer is located on a 4 acre plot of land with another tiny house rentals that can be booked separately or, depending on availability, can be rented together.
