8-Full Hookup Rv Site #1 (50 AMPS)

Right at the edge of Darby, where you can walk to the downtown area. Cute small town with a few nice shops, restaurants and bars. Clean and well maintained. The owner is one busy lady, very nice, and eager to help. Only 6 FHU sites, but more dry camping available. More cabins than RV sites. Great base camp to explore the Bitterroot Valley. You really get the feel that this is truly a travellers rest type of campground. Behind the FHU sites is a large grassy tent area, which had a somewhat steady flow of backpackers and cyclists coming through. We were here 2 weeks and it was so interesting to see the tenacity and lifestyle of these hardy folks, young and old, while I am here dragging a small house behind my truck. Hah. We would definitely stay again, if in the area. We camped at Travellers Rest in a Fifth Wheel

Just south of Darby is the property where the TV series Yellowstone is filmed. They were doing something while we were there, as security had the driveway blocked off. Several spots from the show are marked from the road so you can go see them. Otherwise it's a quiet place. The high school football field backs up to the rear of the property, so there's free entertainment if something is going on.

Travellers Rest

Awesome! We had to pass through here heading to our next destination and we wanted a couple days here so could visit Chief Joseph Ranch where Yellowstone is filmed and it’s less than 2 miles away from here. You can make pictures at the gate!Upon arrival we were greeted by the owner Libbie who’s was very nice and I believe she said she and her husband purchased the place a month ago. It’s not a huge place which we enjoyed. We are in a 41’ motorhome with a 25’ enclosed trailer in tow. It was tight turning in but not a problem. We disconnected the trailer and backed into our spot #1. We watched a deer at the edge of the property for sometime and there’s beautiful mountains on the back.We brought our ATV and done lake Como trail and then Rye Creek. Gorgeous town here in Darby! We ate at the Big Cat and it was really good. We would definitely stay here again.Read less
