The Sunday River&nbsp;is named after, well you guessed it, the Sunday River!&nbsp;&nbsp;It is tucked in a stand of evergreens and maples within a 128 acre parcel. Chandler Brook runs through the majority of the lot and meanders through a large marshland.&nbsp;The yurt has locking front and side doors. Use the keycode emailed before check-in to enter the front door. Inside the yurt you will find a kitchenette complete with a draining sink, Stanley insulated water jug, propane camp cook stove, enameled dinnerware set, Stanley cookware and coffee French press, silverware, knives, cutting board, and serving utensils. It is fully furnished with a bar table, 6 barstools, couch, 2 arm chairs, coffee table, and a timber frame loft area! The loft area has a lower queen bed and an upper queen bed. *Note* bedding is not provided. Up to two dogs are welcomed with a pet fee of $20/night per dog. Doggy bags are provided for pet clean up and are located at the front door. Ample hooks are placed throughout the yurt for hanging jackets and drying wet gloves and hats near the fire. The yurt is equipped with a small solar system that powers the 12v LED lights and 4 USB outlets for charging phones, laptops, and iPads. *Note* guests should bring any adapters needed to plug into USB ports. A guest binder inside offers instructions for the solar power, stoves, a site map, and Bethel area dining and activities guides. Outside, 4 adirondack chairs are placed under strings of lights. Solo stoves are included for outdoor fires year round at no additional fee along with stacks of firewood and cast iron fireplace tools. Baskets of fire starter and kindling and lighters or matches are available inside each yurt. The side door gives access to the included trash bin and leads to the short, lit path to the outhouse. In addition to the outhouse, guests have access to the centrally located bathhouse.&nbsp;The bathhouse can be walked to along a short path or you can drive and use the parking area. The interior of the rustic farmhouse style bathhouse feels warm and inviting. Stained concrete floors are throughout and guests will enjoy the radiant heat on their bare feet when getting out of the shower. The bathhouse has large rustic tub sinks for washing dishes and filling the water jug provided in each yurt. It houses a ladies’ and gent’s side, each with 2 private hot showers and 2 toilet stalls. There is a handicap accessible toilet stall available in both bathrooms.&nbsp; Guests will enjoy the surrounding forest and trails that we continue to expand. Our primary goal at Western Maine Yurts is to provide our guests with a four-season lodging option that is as connected to nature as possible. We aim to give a more luxurious and convenient camping/glamping experience where you can enjoy a hot shower after a day of outdoor activities. We hope you will enjoy unplugging from the demands of daily life and pause to listen to the rain on the roof, birds singing in the morning, and the breeze blowing in the trees. Take the time to enjoy a cozy cuddle on the couch with your favorite beverage, and get out and explore all that Western Maine and the Bethel area have to offer.

This Place was awesome super convenient to Sunday river resort and everything in the yurt was amazing and helpful. sure the outhouse was a little chilly at times. but the bathhouse was amazing as well everything was great will 1000% be coming back annually if not multiple times a year

UNREAL

We stayed at the Sunday River yurt and let me tell you these are so cool. Your get the serenity of being in the woods, but also close to downtown Bethel for any supplies you may need or to even have a wonderful dinner out. 

We stayed with a group of 10 adults in 5 of the Yurts throughout the property. The entire grounds are so well thought out and the bathhouse was BEAUTIFUL! I want to tell everyone about these hidden gems in western Maine but I also want to keep these a quiet so we can have them all to ourselves.

If you are on the fence about booking, don't hesitate, you will have an amazing time.

What a Fantastic time!

This is our second winter that we've stayed at Western Maine Yurts and spent a day skiing at Sunday River.  We absolutely love it!  The bathhouse is warm and cozy even when it's cold outside, we loved roasting marshmallows over the solo stove surrounded by snow, and the heater in the yurt made it really comfortable for us.  The whole place is beautifully curated and every detail (like where the hooks are) is thoughtfully attended to.  We'll be back!

Winter Wonderland

We had the best time staying in the Sunday River yurt over the weekend. Everything was super cute & clean. It was just as much fun hanging out inside the yurt as it was walking the trails on the property. Super close to downtown Bethel but we were also totally content just hanging out in the yurt. Perfect place to unplug for the weekend. Will definitely be back!

So Relaxing!

Finding Western Maine Yurts let us get the fun of camping without packing a ton of gear. The Sunday River is big & airy, with a very comfy bed (a 2nd in the loft), a coleman like cookstove, sink (no running water), lots of light from solar leds, 2 usb ports for charging stuff & woodstove. Plus gorgeous woodwork. The outhouse is clean & easy to find in the dark. We sprung for the solo stove to have a campfire, and hung out by it in the adirondack chairs. There was a torrential thunderstorm and the yurt stayed totally dry & secure.I so appreciate being able to get away without staying in a hotel sharing recirculated air and without having to eat out if you don't want. Self check-in is nice too. The yurts are spaced apart: private & quiet. And its lovely to roll out of bed & walk the trails.
